If you listen to tracks 1 and 2, there is a sort of droning piano tone at the beginning of the song that slowly fades. That sound is essentially the last remains of my original piano noodlings on ‘What It Is’, with the track isolated and allowed to ring out alone, much like the ringing piano note at the end of the Beatles song ‘A day in the life’. Strangely; this 48 seconds of sound took me the longest of all the tracks to mix down to the proper volume level in context with the tracks coming before and after it. I must have burned at least 50 tracks onto CDR before I got it right. Very frustrating, but worth the struggle when I finally stepped back with perspective and listened to the finished product.
You’d expect an album titled “Velociraptor” to be heavy and this doesn’t disappoint, as it’s jam-packed with serrated noise & feedback. Bandcamp New & Notable Apr 22, 2023
